Hendricks Family History
One of the great joys of family history is sharing. I have started this blog in this spirit; to share my research and hopefully to get back from others in return. The advantage of a "blog" is that you, the reader, can respond easily. If you see something I've gotten wrong, please let me know. If you have anything to add, please do. I doubt that anything I will place here is copyrighted or otherwise protected, but if I inadvertently post something objectionable, please let me know that, too.I am starting with a report of my surname ancestors. There is slight awkwardness in this because my grandfather was apparently the child of a female "Hendricks". This has been the inevitable conclusion of DNA studies. Therefore, when you get to the place in this report where my grandfather, Caulie (and his twin brother, Haulie) are listed as children of William H. C. and Levicia Ann Copeland Hendricks, please read the explanation included carefully.
The above photos are of my grandparents, Caulie and Mary Alberta Ward Hendricks (on top), c1919. This is probably a wedding photo. Below is a photo of Caulie and "Bertie" Hendricks along with twin brother, Haulie and his wife, Nellie Stansel Hendricks. This is from an annual family reunion/birthday party and is probably from June, c1961-1962. This will be a basic introduction, but I hope and plan to add more. I particularly want to use this opportunity to discuss various "controversies" in my family history and share what I have collected over the years.

1. FRANCIS1 HENDRICKSON was
born about 1650 in Netherlands. He died about 1715 in Ye Halfway Tree
Plantation, Pasquotank Pct., Albemarle County, North Carolina. He married MARY BUCKLEY

Notes
for Francis Hendrickson:
Info
from unpublished research by Dr. John Scott Davenport "the Hendricksons of
Ye Halfway tree, Pasquotank Precinct, Albemarle county, North Carolina".
Francis Hendrickson first appears in NC records in 1685 and had apparently been
there for several years. He was naturalized a British Subject in 1697.
Questions remain in document. Mention is made of a George Kendrick as possible
patriarch of some of Hendricks in NC. This may be an early hypothesis later
discarded. Also, relationships between Hendrickson of NC and Pike's of Mass and
NJ may exist and deserve further exploration according to Dr. Davenport.
